Fitness Activity & Health Tracking : Misfit Shine
The Misfit Shine has made an impressive market entry. It incorporates activity / step tracking, passive sleep tracking (automatic – no button pushing required) as well as nutrition tracking via in-app food logs and partnerships with MyFitnessPal, Lose It!.
What is impressive about this little device (beside the fact that aesthetically it is gorgeous) is the convenience and ease of use. Sleep tracking is automatic, without the need to remember push a button…. which means more data is reliably collected. The waterproof device runs on a battery, so there is no need to remove it for weekly charging, resulting in a higher wear-time.

I am continually asked why I based a consumer-focused technology startup in Atlanta versus moving back to Silicon Valley and harnessing the experience there.
It is always an interesting and I think, well deserved, question.
So I thought I might share some of the past of Silicon Valley as the region’s experience is a valuable guide for building strong future. (Build Wisely)
Most people only know the Silicon Valley of present. I think it is really important to understand the history and makings of the technology hub to appreciate the drivers that brought it to fruition and how other metro’s may rise as innovation leaders.
